What is the Ohio City/County Management Association?
The Ohio City/County Management Association (OCMA)
is the professional and educational association for appointed administrators
serving cities, villages, townships and counties within Ohio. Membership is
available to any such local government professional administrator.
Ohio City/County Management Association exists to encourage the professional
and personal growth of local government administrators who share its members'
commitment to a system of values based in ethical, non-partisan public policy
decision-making. Ohio City/County Management Association works to support professional administrators in the
performance of their duties through educational and informational sharing
programs and through dissemination of ethical standards. Moreover, the
Association strives to effectively promote the Council-Manager form of
government and to bring the benefits of the Council-Manager Plan to as many Ohio
communities as possible.
Both Ohio City/County Management Association and the International City/County
Management Association (ICMA) advocate council-manager government as the best
vehicle for providing local government management, while acknowledging that
professionalism exists in many non-council-manager communities served by
ICMA/OCMA members.
